Have Fond Fentons Memories? Landmark Oakland Ice Cream Shop To Celebrate 120 Years!

Did you know Rocky Road ice cream was invented at Fentons Creamery?

Fentons Creamery is celebrating 120 years of serving up delicious ice cream and sundaes to the East Bay this year with an anniversary party on Sunday, July 20, from 12 noon to 3 p.m. at the Oakland locale.

Founded in 1894 by Elbridge Seth Fenton, Fentons is the oldest continuously operating creamery west of the Mississippi.

It’s the birthplace of Toasted Almond, Swiss Milk Chocolate, and Rocky Road ice creams, all invented by Melvin Fenton, grandson of ES Fenton.
