Orinda In Action is a Community Service Day scheduled for the 3rd Saturday in April, on or near Earth Day.  The Community comes together to lend a hand to beautify and clean up our City.  We ask all community members to accept the challenge and volunteer for a few hours to improve our surroundings.  We welcome everyone, families with children of all ages, teens, college students, and grandparents, interested in coming out to work for a few hours to make Orinda beautiful. We will match volunteers with an appropriate project around town.  You may become a volunteer by sending an email to orindafoundation@gmail.com.

Projects:  Most projects have been identified, but if you see a need for clean-up or beautification in your neighborhood, on a street you regularly drive, at your local school or your local park?  Let us know about it.  We will have supplies and volunteers willing and able to help with all projects.  Project proposal forms are on the Projects tab and available when you email us at orindafoundation@gmail.com.  A perfect way to spend Earth Day in Orinda!

Group Volunteers: Click here OIA Volunteer or send an email with your name(s)/number in your group to  orindafoundation@gmail.com

Community Service hours verification available and certificate awarded if requested at project completion.

Why is Orinda so messy in the first place?
Mark Roberts April 16, 2012 at 02:26 pm
Hey, Orinda isn't "messy," but even a little litter each day over the course of a year accumulates. Orinda In Action Day is the perfect opportunity for residents to take pride in their community and contribute to a cleaner environment and a more beautiful city. It's also a very satisfying and rewarding experience. Please join us this Saturday.

On several occasions, I have seen 5-6 chickens pecking their way down their steep driveway on theRead More east side of Saint Mary's Road, very close to the Cattle Chute. I had not read this story earlier. On 6/3 or 6/4, I saw a black hen, alone, out in the road right at the point of the Moraga Commons. It was pecking the pavement on Moraga Road, as cars turning north from Saint Mary's Road were avoiding it. I hope the chicken crossed the road to the trail on the other side. Better yet, I hope it turned around and followed that trail right back to the Cattle Chute and home.
