HISTORY: The Run 4 Hunger was created by sophomore student leader Maricruz Zamora in 2008. As a child growing up in an impoverished family she often went to bed hungry at night. When she got older she had the opportunity to participate in Sacramento's Run to Feed the Hungry event which happens on Thanksgiving Day has over 10,000 participants.

Maricruz wanted to bring the idea of raising awareness and support of those suffering from hunger and poverty to SMC! The first year, only 20 people participated. Last year, 200 people participated. This year we're hoping for more! Thanks for promoting this event! PLEASE INVITE YOUR FRIENDS!

This special event kicks off De La Salle week which is an opportunity for SMC community members to celebrate the Lasallian core principles of: faith in the presence of God, concern for the poor and social justice, quality education, inclusive community, and respect for all persons.
