Quilt Show: Contra Costa Guild

Quilt Front, Batting and Backing: Check!  That’s what all the quilts entered in the quilt show will have in common, but from there, the sky is truly is the limit: today’s available techniques, tools and fabric afford a quilter to unhinge their creativity and stitch it to a star.

Every year the Quilters of Contra Costa County Guild team up to put on the area’s quilt show held at the Centre Concord at 5298 Clayton Road in Concord Saturday 10-5 and Sunday 10-4.  1 day admission $8 and 2 day $10.

Once a year since 1974 visitors can come and see the work of the guild and of other quilters around the area, shop at the specialty vendors, take classes and participate in demonstrations given by guild members, and pick up hand made items at the Country Store. There is also a youth treasure hunt…look to the quilts to find the clues.

Last year’s show featured nearly 150 quilts with styles from traditional, to modern, to art quilts and even some wearable’s!  It isn’t uncommon that visitors become inspired to join up with this vibrant group after the show.

The Guild members make quilts for the show, but throughout the year they meet monthly to meet other quilters from the area and participate in several on-going community projects like Quilts to Share and Patriotic Quilts.

On Sunday at 3:30, there will be a raffle for the guild's quilt Springtime Bouquets, which was hand appliqued and hand quilted.

So come check it out!
