constructed Fire Station, and in 1949 found another home in the Orinda
Community Church. By 1953 Orinda
citizens began raising money for construction of a larger library, at the
corner of Irwin and Orinda Way. This
structure was dedicated on November 14, 1958, with an addition built in
1971. The new library building project
began as part of the Heart of Orinda capital planning project. The beautiful new library building complex ,
dedicated in 2001, has over 38,000
