Gold Coast concert: LAFAYETTE PLAYS LAFAYETTE

The Gold Coast
Chamber Players continue its 15th Anniversary in Lafayette with
“Lafayette Plays Lafayette” on Friday, February 21, 2014 at 7:30pm at the
Lafayette Library, 3491. Mt. Diablo Blvd.  



The concert
title “Lafayette Plays Lafayette” features the Canadian Lafayette String
Quartet from Victoria with violist Pamela Freund-Striplen.  The Lafayette String
Quartet is the only all-female ensemble in the world to comprise the four
original members – a distinct rarity, regardless of gender and regardless of
profession.

The program will
feature two string quartets, “Rosamunde” by Franz Schubert and a US premiere by
Berkeley composer, David A. Jaffe.  30
minutes prior to the performance, Mr. Jaffe will give a pre-concert talk about
his quartet, “Fox Hollow”. Rounding out the program will be the string quintet,
op. 97 by Antonin Dvorak, nicknamed the “American”.  The Gold Coast Chamber Players are known for
their engaging and vibrant performances and audiences have been responding with
such enthusiasm that tickets are at a premium
