The Lamorinda Democratic Club's Thursday, February 14,
meeting will feature a conversation about Marriage Equality in California and the Nation with Chris Riley, Northern California Field Director for Equality
California. Momentum for marriage equality has been growing -- including four victories
for equality on ballots during the November 2012 election and the Supreme
Court's recent decisions to review the Constitutionality of California's
Proposition 8 and the federal so-called Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA).
Chris Riley has over 25 years of professional political
organizing experience, with an emphasis on grassroots social justice movements.
From serving as the co-chair of the Michigan delegation to the March on
Washington for Lesbian, Gay, and Bi Equal Rights and Liberation in 1993, to her
current work for Equality California as the Northern California Field Director,
Ms. Riley has consistently combined her strategic and planning skills with her
passion for fairness and equity.
Ms.
Riley has worked as Campaign Manager for the successful election bid of
Michigan State Representative Marie Donigan, as the Political Director for the
Oakland County Democratic Party, as a Field Organizer for the No On 8/Equality
For All campaign, and as Field Director for MassEquality.
