Saint Mary's College Presents Visiting Artist Recital: Gregory Dufford and Fernanda Nieto

An unique opportunity to hear two extraordinary musicans.

Gregory Dufford Gregory Dufford served as clarinetist/bass clarinetist for the San Francisco Opera Orchestra from 1980 to 1998, performing with many of the world’s finest opera singers, including Luciano Pavarotti, Placido Domingo, Kiri Te Kanawa, Montserrat Caballé, Eva Marton, Mirella Freni, Samuel Ramey, Joan Sutherland and Marilyn Horne.  But Dufford’s performing transcended the opera stage to include 13 years as principal clarinetist with one of America’s most respected contemporary music ensembles — the San Francisco Contemporary Music Players (SFCMP).

Fernanda Nieto Fernanda Nieto was born in Argentina where she received her undergraduate degree in piano performance. She has performed with the Lamont (Denver) Symphonic Orchestra as a solo pianist and graduated with honorable mention "Outstanding Student of the Arts and Design School." She has taken master classes in Argentina and the United States from such renowned pianists as Luiz de Moura Castro and Christopher O'Rilley. Nieto is currently a Doctor of Musical Arts candidate under the direction of David Korevaar at the University of Colorado in Boulder.
