Matt Lynn Swim for Cancer Awareness

The Soda Mom's Masters Water Polo Team is sponsoring the 4th Annual Matt Lynn Hour of Power Swim.  The event is scheduled for Tuesday, November 13th at 4 p.m..  It will take place at the Soda Aquatic Center at Campolindo High School in Moraga.  The team donates contributions raised during the swim to the Matt Lynn Memorial Scholarship fund.  The fund benefits Acalanes High School graduating seniors.  Matt swam, played water polo and lacrosse while attending Acalanes. He graduated in 1999 and continued his scholastic and athletic career in lacrosse at UCSB.  He was diagnosed with brain cancer in August of 2005 and continued to coach lacrosse at Acalanes for three years while undergoing several brain surgeries and many chemotherapy treatments. Matt died in December of 2009 after battling cancer for 4.5 years. Seven graduating seniors from Acalanes have been awarded a Matt Lynn Scholarship over the course of the last three years.  Each of these seniors has gone on to major universities to study and play collegiate sports. The Soda Moms invite the community to participate in this event.  Please come to swim or cheer.  In addition, the Moms encourage the community to consider a donation to the Matt Lynn Scholarship Fund or a cancer organization of their choice.
