Contra Costa County Genealogical Society Meeting

The Contra Costa County Genealogical Society will hold its January meeting on Jan. 9, 2014 at the LDS Church, 1360 Alberta Way, Concord, California. The featured speaker will be Diane Longshore de Golia, speaking on her adventures of writing a family history book.
Diane's goal was to learn about her paternal roots, not to write a family history book. During her quest, the mission changed and the author of "Direct Descendants of Johann Henrich Hempe, A Hession Soldier" will share the lessons she learned and the resources she discovered along the way to completing the book.
Diane Longshore deGolia was elected to the Concord City Council in 1980, serving a term as mayor. After retiring from office in 1989, she became the Executive Director of the former Contra Costa Council before being hired by Assemblyman Dick Rainey as his chief consultant to the Assembly Local Government Committee. She retired as his senatorial chief of staff in 2000 and has been actively involved in library efforts and the arts since then. Diane lives in Rossmoor and is a member of the Mt. Diablo Genealogical Society.
