Assembly District 16 Candidates' Forum

The Lamorinda
Democratic Club's next meeting on Friday, January 30, will feature a candidates’
forum among the three Democratic candidates for the 2014 Assembly District 16
race: Newell Arnerich, Steve Glazer and Tim Sbranti. Attendees will be invited
to submit written questions for the candidates, upon arrival at the Lafayette
Library. Candidates will remain after the forum to mingle with the audience.

Newell Arnerich’s
background is founded on serving on the Danville Council as Councilmember/Mayor
for the past 18 years starting in 1995 along with five terms as Mayor. Newell
has served on numerous regional agencies and organizations throughout the
Tri-Valley, San Ramon Valley and Lamorinda areas.

Steve Glazer has been
involved in Orinda local government since 2004 when he won a seat on the City
Council. He has served twice as Mayor, and was re-elected in 2008 and 2012.
Throughout his terms Steve has focused on improving infrastructure, public
services, and local schools -- while ensuring government fiscal accountability.

At the state level,
Steve’s public policy efforts span three decades and include landmark
achievements in the areas of conservation, public safety, affordable housing,
and fiscal reform.

Tim Sbranti has
devoted his life to public service in Dublin, both as a teacher and an elected
official. Sbranti was first elected to the Dublin City Council in 2002, and was
elected Mayor in 2008 and re-elected in 2010. Sbranti helped to guide the City
through some of its most transformative years, and is particularly proud of
Dublin’s recent distinction as an All American City in 2011. He has taken the
lead on several community projects such as the establishment of the local
Farmers Market, and the renovation of the Shannon Community Center and Dublin
Sports ground.
