Moraga School District Says Town Math Is Off
Building the Town of Moraga an auditorium may make sense, but the numbers used as part of the decision don't add up.
Lamorinda Patch was curious about the numbers given during a July 14 Town Council hearing on the town's plans to add a new auditorium for meetings at its Rheem Boulevard location and found the math just a bit off.
The number given as a major reason for designing and building a 105-seat auditorium at the town offices at 329 Rheem Boulevard was the annual $14,000 in rental fees the town paid to the Moraga school district for use of their 175-seat auditorium at Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School.
But when contacted, school district officials could not confirm this rental revenue. According to Moraga school district records, the town has paid the district $4,796 in rental fees for use of the JM auditorium from July 1, 2010 to present. This amount includes one fee assessed for mistakenly setting off the alarm.

School district officials could not determine how the $14,000 figure was generated by the town.
