Lamorinda Trail Users Getting Impatient; Downtime Expected Until Late November

People who use the Lafayette-Moraga trail regularly miss it most. And it appears the popular hiking-biking will remain closed for a while longer.

"Hey, when's the trail going to re-open?"

Part of being Lamorinda's hyper-local news site is that sometimes locals denied their usual exercise regimen because of the closure of a popular local trail get a little hyper and start asking questions about it.

"(What about) the absence of news about the repaving of the from the foot bridge near the Moraga library to Rheem Blvd and beyond," George Ehrenhaft wrote us. "Have any other Patch readers noticed that it's been a month since the trail was closed? Several segments of trail north of Lucille Drive were torn up, paved and completed in two weeks or less. But south of Lucille, two miles of trail remain either half finished or off-limits to walkers, bicyclists, and runners. Workers and construction equipment have vanished. Has the contractor skipped town?"

This and about two dozen other inquiries we've gotten in recent weeks nearly had us breaking out the rakes and tar buckets ourselves but we are assured by East Bay Regional Park District officials that the work is underway and expected to wrap up by Nov. 30.

We've included their closure and trail progress map to help give readers a better idea of their plan and schedule.
