A veteran Lamorinda Patcher was showing his granddad the site the other day. Gramps looked it over, nodded, and said: "Pretty pictures, but what does it do?"

We have a fondness for the practical nature of older people, who aren't so impressed with bells and whistles as they are with tools that work for them when they're supposed to. So, for the older set or younger readers with elder family members interested in the site but unsure of what it can do for them, here are five quick things you can do on the site that will make life a little easier.

Have Something to Say?

Who doesn't from time to time? Have a question? Opinion? Whatever it may be there's a way to make yourself heard on Lamorinda Patch. A couple, in fact. See the Menu Bar across the top of the page under our name? That's the thing with HOME, NEWS, EVENTS, DIRECTORY, etc. on it. You'll also find a tab there marked "Q&A." If you have a question about the best doctor in town or who to call about that roaming white-faced cow meandering down Rheem Valley Boulevard, click on Q&A and ASK A QUESTION!

You'll have an answer from any of the many local experts in town or a Patch team member quicker than you can say "Great Caeser's Ghost!"

Having a Garage Sale?

If it's time to clean out the attic and you want to let the neighborhood know about it, click on EVENTS and GARAGE SALES to look for sales or advertise your own. These are popular listings and cruised regularly by buyers looking for your sale.

Have an Announcement to Make?

Kids just get married? New baby in the family? Granddaughter just make the Honor Roll? Click on NEWS and ANNOUNCEMENTS and let the world know - or at least most of Lamorinda!

This is the place to sound off about accomplishments, births, death notices (a part of life, too) engagements, promotions, lost and found items and a whole bunch more.

Looking for a good place for dinner? A new gym?

On our menu bar at the top of the home page you'll see our DIRECTORY tab. Click on that to find thousands of listings on local businesses and government offices, all listed by category - OR click on BROWSE DIRECTORY and enter a key word (e.g. Thai Food, or Travel Agency) in the SEARCH DIRECTORY window and watch multiple selections pop up for your perusal.
