Lose an hour, yes, as our clocks advance - but win the kids over this weekend with a short list of fun things you can all do together.

Youth Floor Hockey on the Rink

  • Where/When: ; March 10, 4:45pm–5:30pm
  • Why Go: Go play hockey on the rink at the Lafayette Community Center without skates!  Have all the fun of playing hockey without having to worry about all the equipment. Floor hockey is played in tennis shoes. Shin guards, gloves and a helmet are recommended but not required. Ages 6-8 years
  • Price: $47
Combat Cancer Scavenger Hunt benefiting the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society
  • Where/When: ; March 12, 2:00pm–6:30pm (post-hunt party at Sports Basement)
  • Why Go: Join fellow scavengers for an afternoon of competitive fun. Work with your friends or go it alone to win some awesome prizes from local businesses. All ages are welcome.
  • Price: $20 by February 17; $25 from February 18 to March 11; $30 on event day
 Walk Among the Wildflowers
  • Where: Alhambra Ave & Franklin Canyon Rd, Martinez; March 12, 9:00am–11:00am
  • Why Go: Join a ranger for an easy saunter up Mt. Wanda to look for wildflowers. Mt. Wanda, a 326-acre open space, is part of the John Muir National Historic Site.
  • Price: Free
 Jungle Book performance
  • Where: , Walnut Creek; March 10 and 11, 7:00pm
  • Why Go: The Youth Theatre Company's Mini Kids Theater and Kids Theater will perform Disney's The Jungle Book. The show is appropriate for all ages.
  • Price: $10, free to children 3 and younger
Hands-On Exhibit: Creatures of the Abyss
  • Where: Centennial Drive, Berkeley; daily, 10:00am–5:00pm
  • Why Go: The Lawrence Hall of Science at UC Berkeley presents this children's exhibit of one of the most mysterious places on Earth, the Deep Sea. Find our how scientists explore this deep, dark space, how animals find their prey and what a storm at sea looks like - from outer space!
  • Price: $12 adults/$9 children 7-18, $6 children 3-6
