Here are some best bets to take the kids to this week.
at Lindsay Museum
- Where/When: , Feb. 12 and 13, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- Why Go: The museum is offering special Valentine’s Day programs where you can learn what owls do and eat, interesting things about wildlife families, and crafts.
- Pricing: $7 for adults, $6 for seniors 65+, $5 for children 2 -17, and free for members and children under 2 years old
- Where/When: ; Feb. 15, 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.
- Why Go: Learn the traditional Japanese art of paper folding, origami! All skills levels are welcome, but it’s best for ages seven and older.
- Pricing: Free!
- Where/When: Millie’s Kitchen; Daily, 5am - 2:30pm
- Why Go: One word: coffeecake. I’m sure this Lafayette rite-of-passage serves other stuff, I just never tried.
- Pricing: Affordable, cash only.

Where/When: 30 Lafayette Circle, Lafayette; Mon - Sat, 9:30 a.m. – 6 p.m., closed Sundays
- Why Go: The Storyteller is one of the greatest children’s bookstore in the East Bay, and a find for collectors. They also have puppet shows on Friday mornings.
- Pricing: Free to browse, but you have to pay for the books you want to bring home.
- Where/When: 480 St. Mary's Road, Lafayette; dawn until dusk!
- Why Go: Recently updated with some great playstructures, the Lafayette Community Park is a good way to spend a nice day. Shannon of Moraga, says it’s “really cool” and has “an area (for toddlers) that makes sounds when you jump off,” adds Jennifer of Lafayette.
