Rains have quit for now. Time to take the kids out of storage, dust them off and air them out. Lots to do!

Contra Costa Jewish Day School Presents The Wizard of Oz

  • Where/When: ; Thursday at 7 p.m., Friday at 1:30 p.m., Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
  • Why Go: The fanatically talented students of the Contra Costa Jewish Day School will delight you with this musical production.
  • Price: $15, $10 for children in second grade and younger
Satsuki Bazaar and Arts Festival
  • Where/When: ; Saturday 3-9 p.m., Sunday noon-7 p.m.
  • Why Go: The Satsuki Bazaar and Arts Festival includes internationally renowned taiko master Kenny Endo, Hiroshima jazz group greats June Kuramoto and Kimo Cornwell, Miyagi Ryu Okinawan Dance with Dr. Wesley Ueunten, a variety of Japanese and Hawaiian food, Japanese arts and crafts, a silent auction and carnival games.

Awesome Friday Night
  • Where/When: ; Friday 5:30-9 p.m.
  • Why Go: Drop the kids off for an awesome Friday Night.  While you’re out having an amazing time, your children will be having fun doing arts & crafts, playing games (toys, game tables, Just Dance) and watching a movie (PG).
  • Price: $23
Cal Shakes: Intro to Shakespeare
  • Where/When: ; Sunday noon-1 p.m. for fifth- through seventh-grade students, 1-2 p.m. for eighth- through 12th-grade students
  • Why Go: Students will explore acting basics through the lens of one of the greatest playwrights of all time, William Shakespeare. In addition to theater games, young actors will learn how to break down Shakespeare’s language and rehearse and perform scenes.

Martinez Peddlers’ Faire
  • Where: ; Saturday 8 a.m.-4 p.m. 
  • Why Go: Held twice a year, this is one of the largest outdoor antique shows in Northern California, and it takes place on the streets of historic downtown Martinez. Vendors will be selling a huge variety of antiques and collectibles including glassware, porcelain, pottery, furniture, old advertising, toys, Native American wares, paper items and much more.
  • Downtown Martinez also has 13 antique and collectible stores.
