Canyon Collision Yields DUI Arrests
The unidentified driver of a car that collided with a motorcycle in unincorporated Canyon at 3:41 p.m. Sunday was arrested on suspicion of DUI by the CHP, Moraga police reported.

Philanthropist Gives Theater A Lift

The New Rheem Theatre is on its way to be a multiple-screen cinema again. The theatre's elevator fund got a "lift," in the pun perpetrated by Ellen Beans of the Moraga Citizens Network in an email. Local philanthropist Joan Bruzzone made a one-year, no interest loan to the California Independent Film Fest for $25,000, plus a donation of $5,000.

Bill Snider Named Business Person of the Year
Moraga City Council honored Bill Snider, Moraga Chamber's Business Person of the Year, at its meeting Wednesday. The proclamation noted many of Snider's winning qualities and asks a pertinent question about the current whereabouts of the chocolate statuette award he received after winning Best Performance by an Actor in the Iron Filmmaker competition.

Police Chief Offers Advice on Burglary Protection
The three police chiefs of Lamorinda have been comparing notes on the recent spate of burglaries. Burglary was a main topic Wednesday morning at a monthly meeting of the chiefs of Lafayette, Moraga and Orinda police departments, along with managers from the Moraga-Orinda Fire District and St. Mary's College Public Safety, said Moraga Police Chief Robert Priebe.

New Paint Store Opens in Lafayette
A new paint outlet is mixing it up on Mount Diablo Boulevard in Lafayette. The new Kelly-Moore store had a soft opening in January, and is pointed toward a grand opening celebration with a noon ribbon cutting on Thursday, March 14.
