UPDATE: Water Pipe Repaired In Lafayette; Service Restored To 100 Homes, Businesses

A broken water main made it a dry morning for some homes and businesses in downtown Lafayette Thursday.

A ruptured water main which forced about 100 Lafayette homes and businesses to go without water Thursday was repaired and full service restored at about 10:30 a.m.

The break occurred at the intersection of Mount Diablo Boulevard and Village Center. Eastbound lanes of Mount Diablo Boulevard were briefly, partially closed to traffic while crews worked to fix the break.

EBMUD spokeswoman Andrea Pook said the break was reported at about 10:30 p.m. Wednesday and the water line was shut down about an hour later.

Crews were able to restore service, but still need to repair the 10-inch pipe and may be at work in the area until about 7 p.m. An EBMUD spokesman advised motorists that traffic in the area could be impacted.
