Best Avatars - Patch's Growing Rogues Gallery

We're talking about those graphical representations we give to our online persona. Add yours today.

An avatar is that little graphic accompanying many of our user's screen names. Some are cute. Some are funny. Right now the best one we have seen belongs to a user named Moraglodyte, but others are coming up fast.

They are meant to be a reflection of the user's personality, sometimes they are actual photos of the reader.

We'd like to see more of them.

Why? And what does it mean to you in terms of exposure, potential liability?

Well, we have an engaging little online community going here and people are talking with one another - a lot. Some of this has spilled out of cyberspace and into coffeeshops, meeting rooms and living rooms, with readers meeting other readers in the "real world," and we'd like to see that continue.

So, just to help us get a better sense of your personality and focus, take a minute to upload a favorite photo to your profile so that we know who we're dealing with. The liability? None. No hidden trackers, no black helicopters hovering over your house. If you're camera shy do what Moraglodyte did.

Here's How:

When you sign in with us you'll see our welcoming "Hi, Mabel!" or "Hi, Vince!" messaging at the top of the page. Click on your name. C'mon, you can do it. That will take you to your profile page. There, under your name, you will see "The Basics" and under that "Profile Home" and "Profile Photos" - "Profile Photos" is where you want to be.

To the right of the "Profile Photos" you'll see "Upload your first profile photo." Click on that phrase.

This will open a window allowing you to select and upload a photo from your Pictures folder. Select the photo, click Upload Photo and you're off to the races. Then, whenever you sign in, the photo you select will appear next to your name.

And that's it.
