Name That Restaurant!

The owners of the restaurant opening in January in the new Oddfellows building don't like their own name. Wanna help?

Seen the Oddfellows building lately? It's transformed into a beautiful building with an outstanding patio overlooking downtown Campbell. Truly a gem.

We attended a community meeting last night held by the developer, Don Imwalle, to show us his new building and introduce the anchor tenant, Campbell Gastro Pub, due to open in January, who served a great sampling of food from their anticipated menu (crabcake sliders... yum!).

We were impressed with the developer's (Don Imwalle and John Razumich - John lives a block away in Water Tower Plaza) commitment to their new building being an asset to Downtown Campbell and their willingness to work with and listen to the community (that would be us!).

Now for the good part... the food!

We got to meet the Brigham family (owners of Boswell's and Khartoum) and their award-winning, classically-trained French chef Dominique Faury, the former owner of Twist Cafe who has a 25 year history of working in and owning top restaurants around the world.

So here's the good news and bad news-

The good news is that their new restaurant "Campbell Gastro-Pub" will be family-friendly and emphasize good food and atmosphere, not loud music, drinking, and rowdiness. Whew!

The bad news is that the name sucks (THEY are the ones that said so!).

The Brigham family came up with "Campbell Gastro-Pub" as a placeholder name and they are having a hard time coming up with a name they like and are open to suggestions from the Campbell community. They would love a name that honors Campbell tradition and history and invokes the kind of food and atmosphere they strive to provide our community.

Let's help them out!

What would be a great name for this restaurant?

Here's your chance to make a lasting impact in our community and see your suggestion in lights over one of the most prominent intersections in Downtown Campbell.

And who knows how a grateful restaurateur might reward the winning suggestion?

Hey Bob!! I think 'The Twisted Prune' is a better choice since the area had mostly produced dried prunes. I still like 'The Campbell Station'!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Of these ideas I like the Campbell Station best. :) My business partner and I came up with lots of names before deciding on "Stripes" (for our new children's boutique in Campbell) but what helped the MOST in choosing was narrowing it down to 2 or 3 and then asking people to pick their favorite of those. I'd suggest doing that before finalizing anything!

Out of all the names I like "Twisted Prune". Its a great conversation starter and combines both Dominique's old restaurant and the history of Campbell.

Love all of these ideas (and the owners' openness to make the naming of their restaurant a community-effort!). I have been compiling all of them into a survey where everyone can vote for their favorites here: http://campbell.patch.com/articles/poll-what-would-you-name-the-new-restaurant-in-campbell Again, fantastic ideas!
