I can remember my childhood home vividly.  I suspect most of us can.  There was my aquarium, my stuffed animals laid across my bed (some of them tucked under the covers so they wouldn’t be cold while I was gone), and my bed which was the best in the world.  Looking back, it was a twin bed with a mattress that I would probably give me a backache today.  I loved my room.  And my room was next to my sister’s room and my parent’s room.  Even when I was by myself at night, I knew everyone else was there and I was safe.

Our care homes remind me of my childhood home because the residents are like a family.  They share in making the house feel special.  Each resident has their own privacy but know that they are in a warm, loving home.  That’s the best place I can think to be.
