Roam Artisan Burgers Coming to La Fiesta Square

It aims for 'family-friendly location' to take over the Lafayette spot formerly occupied by A.G. Ferrari Foods.

By Lance Howland

Ashley Anderson moved to Lafayette from New Jersey several months ago.

She walked by A.G. Ferrari specialty foods shop many times, saying to herself that some day soon she'd stop in and see what it offered.

She's too late. The Ferrari store on LaFiesta Square is closed. The next place, Roam Artisan Burgers, is gearing up and will be grilling up.

For Roam, with locations on Fillmore and Union streets in San Francisco, it is the first roundup in the East Bay.

"We are targeting early October for Lafayette," wrote owner Josh Spiegelman in an email. "While it will likely be a bit different from Union and Fillmore, we will pursue the same theme, making use of lots of reclaimed wood, railroad tracks, a bar (beer and wine) and community table seating.  It will be a family-friendly location, and we will have a nice outdoor patio area for seating."

Spiegelman added, "We do not have any immediate plans to open other spots in the East Bay, though it is a very attractive market for us."

"From pasture to plate, Roam Artisan Burgers offers delicious burgers, sides, shakes and sodas," states its website, which adds, "Roam is committed to utilizing sustainable meats and produce … with 100 percent grass-fed beef, free-range turkey, all-natural bison and an organic veggie burger."
