Moragans Begin Letter-Writing Campaign To Save Country Club Post Office

Fans of the School Street branch of the U.S. Post Office go there for many reasons - for service when the Rheem PO is packed; to see friends from the Country Club; and to grab a muffin and coffee from the cafe across the street after buying stamps.

There was a fair bit of hue and cry for saving the Country Club branch of the post office at the meeting, after it was learned the station may be closed due to budgetary reasons.

Council members directed Town Staff to prepare a letter of their own to the United States Postal Service to try to help save the branch at - and some interested participants said they would do the same since a public letter-writing campaign has helped save threatened branches in the past.

If you're interested in keeping the station, the town advises you write to: Mr. Kim Fernandez, Bay Valley District Manager, 1675 7th Street, Oakland, CA 94615 by May 18.
