Miramonte Senior Wins First Prize In Local Speech Competition

Molly Schoenfeld survives challenges from two classmates in contest sponsored by Lamorinda Sunrise Rotary in Lafayette.

Molly Schoenfeld, who plans to enter UCLA this fall, won first prize of $300 in the annual Four-Way Test Speech Contest Friday at Postino restaurant. In a separate raffle, she also won an Echo smartpen valued at $200 - all in all a good morning's work.

Second- and third- place prizes -- $200 and $100 -- were won by Philip Chang and Alyssa Sheets, respectively.

Schoenfeld advances to the next round, the Rotary District 5160 competition, next month. The district comprises 70 individual clubs -- some 3,750 members in all -- that stretch from San Ramon to Weed.
