"Best Of" 2012: Who Makes the Best Sandwich In Lamorinda?

Cast your vote for the best sandwich in Lamorinda.

You need a sandwich and you need it now. Luckily, Lamorinda has a number of great local places to pick from. Where's your go-to sandwich deli?

Vote for your favorite in the poll at the end of this article. Click on the links below and rate the business on its Patch Place listing. And then review it so others will know about it... it's Patchy to share the wealth.

Fiona's Pantry (Lafayette)

If you have another local spot you fancy that we missed, start a write-in a campaign in the comments section below. In the event of a tie, we will break it based on the comments, so please explain your choice.

Because our poll is not scientific, it is not the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor, based on poll results, comments and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey, per Patch.

The poll closes at 9 a.m. Friday. Come back later that afternoon for the results.

If you know of a worthy sandwich place nearby, you can vote for the Best Sandwich at our neighboring site in Walnut Creek.

If you want to suggest a topic or candidates for future "best" contests, post it in the comments below, and don't forget to vote.

Morrucci's - always the best, every time, every sandwich.
J.D. O'Connor (Editor) February 27, 2012 at 05:57 PM
But not in Lamorinda, right JMR? Or are we missing a local opening?
DC / Lafayette February 27, 2012 at 07:34 PM
Morruccis is always the best....but you are right, in Saranap between Lafayette and WC. However, if you take a vote, guess what.
Eliz February 27, 2012 at 09:53 PM
Morrucci's is great....kinda Walnut Creek but close to Lafayette. Actually, I make the best sandwiches.
J.D. O'Connor (Editor) February 27, 2012 at 10:45 PM
Ha! Okay, we're adding: "Eliz's Kitchen" to the list... ;-}
Aric Martinez February 27, 2012 at 11:12 PM
JMR and DC / Lafayette, Morrucci's is indeed Walnut Creek and currently crushing the Walnut Creek Patch poll: http://walnutcreek.patch.com/articles/poll-best-of-walnut-creek-sandwich-division

It's a tie!?! Biancas and Diablo? What do you do, have a sudden death Sandwich Off?
J.D. O'Connor (Editor) February 28, 2012 at 06:33 PM
I'm for that... I'll be the judge! Our legal guys will never allow it, though (sigh). Remember, our polls are open until EOD Friday.
Yevgeniya February 28, 2012 at 06:52 PM
Please add Whole Foods Market Lafayette to the list of contenders. Their sandwich of the day is a masterpiece that looks as good as it tastes....it's always mouthwatering and beautifully presented, and Karim at the counter is amazing!
J.D. O'Connor (Editor) February 28, 2012 at 07:03 PM
Thanks for the suggestion, Yevgeniya... 'preciate it. Anyone else fancy the WF "Sandwich of the Day?" Vote for it in the comments field...

Zuzu Zaftig February 28, 2012 at 09:25 PM
I've had the WF Sandwhich a few times. YUMMY!! Last time I had it they put a fig spead on with turkey, bacon, brie and apple, it made my taste buds quiver. Last week they had one with BBQ turkey and a slaw, mmmmmm! I think they bake the bread daily it's soooo good.
Gerard February 29, 2012 at 04:47 PM
Please add Whole Foods Market Lafayette to the Lamorinda list of the area's best sandwich. If you ask for Karim in Prepared Foods Department you will be assured that your sandwich experience will be the best one you have ever had. Trust me.
jane February 29, 2012 at 05:06 PM

Sara March 01, 2012 at 06:12 PM
I have a family that only eats gluten free. I am happy that Whole Foods will make my sandwiches with gluten free breads. And I love the chicken salad the best!
Julie March 01, 2012 at 06:13 PM

Zuzu Zaftig March 01, 2012 at 07:43 PM
The curry chicken salad with cheddar on toasted sourdough is to die for.

Whole Foods Sandwich of the Day!!!!! gorgeous and delicious!!!!!!!!!!!
CJ March 02, 2012 at 12:47 AM
I smell the stink of a bum rush by WF employees or recruits. A line of WF endorsements out of nowhere and all by posters with a single post on this subject. More than fishy.
Noah March 02, 2012 at 07:33 PM
Diablo foods has the best sandos around. Best meat and bread options. Never had a good sandwich at whole foods.
J.D. O'Connor (Editor) March 02, 2012 at 07:39 PM
Did you really just say "Sandos?" Hmm. Pretty good, we'll have to use that one! Remember guys, you can vote up until end of business today for your favorite Sando Maker...

Susan Ford (across from Trader Joe's), Thangsgiving day turkey sandwich. Made with turkey that they cook in-house, cranberry sauce, and a swipe of a secret sauce. Delicious!
