Moraga Seeking Input On Proposed Recreation Facility At Saint Mary's

The town Planning Department is seeking input from neighbors living next to a planned 60,000 square-foot athletic facility at the college.

Moraga's Planning Department is taking public input on plans for a massive new fitness facility and grandstand addition at Saint Mary's College.

Drawings for the 60,000 square-foot structure to be built largely on the footprint of the old baseball field and butting up against the school's tennis courts, have already been presented to interested members of the public and a joint hearing of the Planning Commission and Design Review Board.

Some residents and town staff have expressed concerns over additional traffic, noise and light pollution, and some aspects of the design itself. Permits and a California Environmental Quality Act review will be needed before grading can begin and additional reviews by the Design Review Board will be needed before building can begin.

Comments on the project should be sent by email to planning@moraga.ca.us or delivered or mailed to Kelly Clancy, 329 Rheem Blvd., Moraga, CA 94556.
