Hi, Need a Solar System? Keep Your Key Under the Mat?

Concern over the ulterior motives of door-to-door solicitors continues, with one group given a police escort out of town.

continue to worry residents -- especially after one of them is found peering under one homeowner's doormat.

Moraga police were sent to Ketelson Drive at 1:17 p.m. on Sept. 7 after a resident there reported two men on her doorstep, with one of them peering under her doormat when she opened her door.

The "adult male" salesmen said they were with an energy company but could provide no business card or company literature. Police contacted their supervisor, who told them he had five people going door-to-door in the area, and advised them to get a permit, "gather up his group" and to leave town.

Two additional salespeople were also located and invited to leave, according to Moraga police.

There was a team from some random solar company going around Lafayette yesterday. I called LPD and it turns out this group DID have permits.
Still, permit in hand (or rather on lanyard), this particular solicitor was pretty heavy-handed with his sales tactics. ("So can I ask WHY you don't want to purchase what I'm selling?")

If you're going to sell solar systems, you need to planet better.

LOL - I had the same company come by twice - my house happens to face the wrong way and the one very small area that just made the cut for solar use has water solar panels on it. I told them both times that I would be telling neighbors all facing my direction that your company clearly hasn't any idea what its doing given the % loss of solar when pointed WEST makes solar a costly mistake. He started to argue with me and I asked him what the % loss in power was for every 10degrees your panels are not pointed south - blank look. I smiled and told him to go back to the office and learn his product better.
Folks you need a large roof surface facing south or at least south west ish - west with a slight south angle makes for a very costly and ineffective solar system.

On several occasions, I have seen 5-6 chickens pecking their way down their steep driveway on theRead More east side of Saint Mary's Road, very close to the Cattle Chute. I had not read this story earlier. On 6/3 or 6/4, I saw a black hen, alone, out in the road right at the point of the Moraga Commons. It was pecking the pavement on Moraga Road, as cars turning north from Saint Mary's Road were avoiding it. I hope the chicken crossed the road to the trail on the other side. Better yet, I hope it turned around and followed that trail right back to the Cattle Chute and home.
