Rheem Red Carpet Party on Oscar Night

General tickets for the Sunday, Feb. 24, event are $100. It's a fund-raiser for the elevator fund at the New Rheem Theatre in Moraga.

The red carpet will unfurl and there's sure to be local paparazzi on Oscar night at the New Rheem Theatre in Moraga.

The soiree at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 24, will raise the bar on East Bay Oscar-viewing parties, according to the event's press release. While raising the bar it will also raise money to renovate the stairway elevator at the theatre. The elevator in disrepair has limited the number of screens showing movies at the Rheem because of an Americans with Disabilities Act claim.

More information from the New Rheem Theatre's press release:

Guests will walk their own red carpet and, after striking a pose for their own souvenir photo, will receive a swag bag full of goodies, including a commemorative wine glass to partake in the evening’s pour. They will also be randomly assigned an award nominee’s name and will win a great door prize if their nominee wins an Oscar.

The lively event will kick off with dancing and great music from local favorite, Diamond Dave. The evening will be emceed by Dave as well as Derek Zemrak, founder of the California Independent FilmFestival and the operator of The Lamorinda Theatres. Food will be provided by Shelby’s in Orinda.
