Spanish Strings, a Gold Coast concert

The Gold Coast Chamber Players Season Finale: SPANISH STRINGS, will surely be a sizzling way to welcome in summer!  Just how many strings will there be? A guitar, string quartet and piano will provide the wide variety and exciting combination audiences have come to expect from the Lafayette based Gold Coast Chamber Players! This performance is appropriate for all ages.

Russian-born and Israeli-raised guitarist Yuri Liberzon ranks among today’s foremost classical guitarists in the United States and the world. His playing has been described as “Transcendent technical prowess at the service of gracious musicality. He is a natural born guitarist”. Mr. Liberzon will be performing a rarely heard quintet for guitar and strings by Italian composer, Mario Castelnuevo-Tedecso, as well as a selection of mesmerizing solo pieces by Spanish composers Joaquin Turina and Isaac Albeniz. Featured violinist Robin Sharp, who has performed in recital in Carnegie Hall and throughout the world’s most prestigious concert halls, is a regular with Gold Coast and is described by critics as “both elegant and impassioned in her playing, in turn sweetly lyrical and dazzlingly virtuosic.” Music by Granados, Turina, Sarasate, Albeniz and Castelnuovo-Tedesco is featured.

A reception with complimentary sangria (donated by a clarinetist from Spain) will provide an opportunity to meet the musicians after the performance.
