Friends of the LLLC present: The Ruth Bancroft Garden

Join us as a Ruth Bancroft Garden Docent shares the 40 year history of these beautiful Walnut Creek gardens. The 3.5 acre Ruth Bancroft Garden is filled with hundreds of stunning succulents, making it California's largest dry garden. We'll hear how Ruth started the Garden, adjacent to her home, in 1971 with one gallon pots of a wide variety of succulents, many of which are still part of the Garden today. The docent will share how this non-profit Garden is an outstanding example of a water-conserving garden, appropriate for our Mediterranean climate. We'll also learn about the important collections of aloes, agaves, yuccas, and echeverias.

If you'd like to learn more before the talk, including detailed information on the garden, the history of the property, and Ruth, visit their website: www.ruthbancroftgarden.org
