Finding and Celebrating Your Beloved: A Valentine's Day Poetry Reading

Poet Charles Burack will be reading from his book, Songs to My Beloved. The book contains the love poems that Burack wrote to the spirit of his beloved in 2001. It was his hope and prayer that these letter-poems would somehow draw his soul mate into his life. The poems chronicle Burack's yearnings, visions, frustrations, despair, and ultimate faith that his beloved would somehow hear the communications of his heart and find her way to him. In less than six months, she miraculously appeared in his life. Two years later, the couple married in a rose garden near Mt. Diablo. His wife, Mary Ann, will also share her story about the amazing synchronicities that led up to her meeting Charles.

Charles Burack is a poet, professor, counselor, and creativity coach. He teaches integrative approaches to psychology, literature, creativity, and spirituality at John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill.

Mary Ann Konarzewski is a writer, eldercare specialist, massage therapist, and world traveler. She is author of Loving Our Elders: Stories of Inspiration, Wisdom and Love at the End of Life. She is also author of Songs of Silence, a screenplay about the life of Sor Juana Inez de la Cruz, the great Mexican poet, scientist, nun, and first feminist of the Americas.
