Artists’ Reception : Joel Summerhill & Gloria Cannon
May 31, 2011, 6:30pm

Join us at Ygnacio Valley Library for an artists’ reception for Joel Summerhill and Gloria Cannon.

Joel Summerhill is a landscape architect. He now pursues his love of fine art in earnest. His chosen medium is watercolor, and he paints plein air landscapes to communicate a time and place in nature to urban viewers. He has shown his work in many shows and received recognition from fellow artists and the public. Recently, Joel was selected to join 27 other members to show his work at Gallery Concord in Concord, and he is a finalist in the 2010 national watercolor show sponsored by the California Watercolor Association.

Gloria Cannon is a retired technical editor and writer, and has been painting for five years. Childhood visits to art museums all over the United States, Canada, and Europe played an important role in Gloria’s art education. She considers herself to be an apprentice artist, and her favorite subjects are representational still lifes, people, and historical buildings. She selects subjects that make an emotional connection to her. Drawing and painting have become central to her life. Her favorite media are acrylic and oils.

The show will run from May 23 to June 30, 2011.

Ygnacio Valley Library is located at 2661 Oak Grove Rd. in Walnut Creek.  For more information, call the library at 925-938-1481 or visit the library’s website at www.ccclib.org.
