15th Film Festival Spotlights Foreign Films

California Independent Film Festival is Thursday, Nov. 8, to Sunday, Nov. 11, at the Rheem Theatre, Moraga.

The annual independent film festival is returning soon — moved on the calendar back to its original November from the February that Moraga has grown used to.

The move to November had something to do with the profusion of Bay Area film festivals in the spring, said Joanne Foy, executive director of the California Independent Film Festival.

And it's growing more international. The 15th annual festival has films from 14 countries, said Joanne Foy, executive director of CAIFF. "It is wonderful to see what other countries are experiencing and the messages they deliver through the art of filmmaking," she said.

"CAIFF knows the importance of arts in the schools, so this year we are donating 50 percent of the ticket sales from the Kids Program for the Moraga Education Foundation," said Foy.

The festival runs from Thursday, Nov 8, through Sunday, Nov. 11, at the New Rheem Theatre, 350 Park St., Moraga.
