The Week Ahead: Lafayette Townhouses, Orinda Restaurants, Moraga Wine Festival

Some of the meetings and activities happening in Lamorinda this week

On Monday evening, the Lafayette City Council and the city's Planning Commission and Design Review Commission will hold a special joint meeting.

On the agenda is a public workshop on the proposal by Lennar Homes to build 47 townhouses on two acres at the northwest corner of Mt. Diablo Boulevard and Dolores Drive.

The meeting begins at 6 p.m. in Community Hall, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd.

On Tuesday morning, the Lafayette School District board of education will meet in closed session to discuss the replacement for departing Superintendent Fred Brill.

The closed session begins at 9 a.m. at the school district offices, 3477 School St. At 9:30 a.m., the board is scheduled to announce any decisions made during closed session.

On Tuesday evening, the Orinda Chamber of Commerce is hosting its 6th annual Orinda Restaurant Tour.

The event is from 5:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at restaurants throughout Orinda.

Participants will ride a San Francisco Trolley around the city to sample various cuisine.

Also on Tuesday night, Contra Costa County library officials will hold a town hall meeting in Lafayette to discuss how they can better serve the public.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Lafayette Library and Learning Center, 3491 Mt. Diablo Blvd.

On Wednesday evening, the Moraga Town Council will hold its regularly scheduled meeting.

On the agenda is the appeal of the Planning Commission's approval of plans for construction of 4,270-square-foot home at 1800 Donald Drive.

The council will also discuss its 2013 goals regarding the protection of ridgelines and hillsides in Moraga.

The meeting begins at 7 p.m. at the Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School auditorium, 1010 Camino Pablo.

On Friday, the American Red Cross will hold a blood drive in Lafayette.

The event is from noon to 5 p.m. at the Lafayette Parks and Recreation Department, 500 St. Mary's Road.

On Saturday, the annual Pear and Wine Festival will be held in Moraga.

The event is from 10 a.m to 4 p.m. at Moraga Commons Park, 1425 St. Mary's Road.

Also on Saturday, the Las Trampas Foundation Inc. will host its 4th Annual Walk 'N' Roll in Lafayette.

The event is from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. and begins at the foundation's offices, 3460 Lana Lane.

It features a 1-mile and 5-kilometer fun walk/roll/run to support the foundation's programs.
