Strollathon In Moraga Raises Nearly $50,000 For Rett Syndrome Foundation

More than 200 people participated in the walk to raise money for research and treatment

About 250 people raised close to $50,000 for important medical programs by walking around Rancho Laguna Park in Moraga on Sunday.

The Northern California Strollathon's proceeds will go toward the International Rett Syndrome Foundation for research and treatment for the developmental disorder that strikes mostly girls.

Erica Robertson, the IRSF Northern California co-regional representative, said the walk itself raised $46,000 and a raffle and additional donations brought in more than $3,000.

In the past four years, the Northern California Strollathon has brought in $230,000. Nationwide, 27 strolls have raised $788,000 so far this year.

The foundation was formed in 2007. The Strollathons have been happening since 2004 and have raised $8 million in the past decade.
