A Lafayette facility's recycling program is in the spotlight after an Alamo philanthropist won a Diablo magazine Threads of Hope Award.
Alamo investment adviser Eric Rudney, president of Rudney Associates, was feted for initiating Reuse, Recycle, Repeat — a program that engages clients at Las Trampas Inc. of Lafayette. Las Trampas is a nonprofit that supports adults with developmental disabilities.
The clients put together gift bags of toiletries distributed to residents at risk or who have become homeless, according to a news release. Las Trampas clients have put together more than 10,000 gift bags.

Rudney and the four other honorees will be celebrated at a reception on Thursday, December 6 at the Orinda Theatre. The other honorees are Sarah Williams of Creative Kindness; Lorrie Sullenberger of Big Brothers Big Sisters; Dr. Tomás Magaña of Faces for the Future Coalition; and Dr. Gerald Brody of Children’s Hospital and Research Center Oakland.
Rudney has volunteered as a fundraiser for Las Trampas for nearly 20 years.
But Las Trampas is just one of many East Bay organizations that benefit from Rudney’s passion for giving back to the community. Rudney is also chair of the Foundation Board at Chabot Space and Science Center, chair of the Leadership Council for the Family Heart and Nutrition Center at Children’s Hospital Oakland, and is actively involved with the Wheelchair Foundation, Diablo Regional Arts Association, and Hospice of East Bay.
For the past 18 years, Diablo has solicited nominations for exceptional volunteers who give their time to charitable causes in the East Bay for the annual Threads of Hope Awards. After considering each nominee’s length of service, hands-on involvement, and impact on the community, a panel of judges representing East Bay businesses and philanthropic organizations chose five honorees.
