New Library Manager Comes to Moraga

Diane McDonnell, who comes from Placer County libraries, recently achieved a master's degree at San Jose State.

Diane McDonnell is the newly hired senior community library manager for the Moraga Library.

McDonnell, recently moved to the area after working in Placer County libraries, started last week with training at the county library system in Pleasant Hill. She is due to come aboard in Moraga in about two weeks.

McDonnell, speaking before the Moraga Town Council last week, said she looked forward to working closely with Friends of the Moraga Library and other advocates. She said she had worked in public libraries for about 15 years, a clerk who moved up into management in personnel, volunteer and facilities. She recently completed a Master of Library and Information Science degree from San Jose State. She is married to a librarian, she said, and has three children and six grandchildren.

Town Manager Jill Keimach, who participated in an interview with McDonnell, said, "We felt she would be a very good fit for Moraga."
