Moraga Native & Olympian Heather Petri To Speak at Lafayette Library Next Week

Moraga-born and raised Heather Petri is one of the most decorated female water polo players in the world, and she will visit on Tuesday, July 29, at 5 p.m. in the Community Hall, as part of the Authors and Athletes Family Series.

She is one of only two US female water polo players to have competed in four Olympic Games and her teams have medaled each time.

In addition to her Olympic medals, Petri has won gold in three Pan American Tournaments and three gold medals at World Championships. 

She started swimming at age five at Moraga Valley Pool, and did not begin playing water polo until her sophomore year at Miramonte High School when she joined the boys' JV team.

 A UC Berkeley grad, with a degree in integrative biology, Petri is now an elementary school teacher. She will discuss her Olympic Dream and share her inspirational story.
