Local Man Traces Roots To Bozo & Goofy

Tom Colvig of Orinda has been looking into family stories like that of Pinto Colvig, the original voice of Bozo the Clown and Disney's Goofy.


Tim Colvig of Orinda has a genealogical hobby that has lead him to Southern Oregon. There he was profiled for looking into the roots of a family whose ancestry includes a notable personality of the past -- Pinto Colvig, the original voice of Bozo the Clown and the Disney character Goofy.

A story in the Ashland, Oregon Daily Tidings write's about the local man's discovery of "photos, diaries, journals, certificates and correspondence going back to the 1860s, most of it related to . . . William Mason Colvig and his son, Vance Colvig, better known as Pinto. Pinto Colvig was the original Bozo the Clown and the original voice of many Walt Disney characters, including Goofy."
