Invention? Wild Hair? Crazy Idea Only You Think Is Brilliant? Let's Hear It!

Lamorindans are a generally brainy bunch with some interesting ideas and the skill set needed to bring those ideas to fruition. So what's YOUR great idea?

If you're one of those people who can't stop doodling the schematics for the world's next great invention on your cocktail napkin, or look at things and mutter to yourself: "It would be better if we built it this way," Patch wants to hear from you.

We know we have a bunch of professional and enthusiastic amateur engineer/inventors in this area, and we know folks here seem to generate more than their fair share of great ideas and inventions, so tell us what's on your  drawing board.

To get things started we'll share an idea we came up with recently while doing one of those household chores we all hate: cleaning our gutters. While crawling across a wet, slippery roof removing matted leaves and trying to drop them into a green bin that seemed to be sidestepping every deposit, we came up with -- wait for it -- The Gutter Crawler.

Our whizzbang device consists of a light plastic scoop designed to fit your standard residential gutter which rolls along with a mesh net, clipped to the gutter and open at the mouth to facilitate ease of loading, the netting trailing down into the waiting bin.

Move the scoop along with its netting and the gutter-clogging matter goes down the chute and into the bin, never an errant leaf, no noise -- and all you need is one of the resident teens to come out and move the bin along with you from time to time. Everything in its place. Whaddaya think, $29.99 at WalMart?

That's pretty lo-tech, and we know you can do better. What ideas do you have to make our lives better and the world a better place to live?
