Gray Fox Sighting in Burton Valley
Lafayette resident wonders if it's one of three gray foxes released by the Lindsay Wildlife Museum in Moraga Oct. 28.
There has been a gray fox sighting in Burton Valley, Lafayette, that has the homeowner wondering if it's not one of three youngsters released Oct. 28 about four miles away in Moraga.
The Castello Road resident, who asked not to be identified, said she saw a gray fox on her deck, "eating grapes, scratching fleas and generally hanging out about noon" Nov. 1. She said the house hadn't been visited by a fox in years.
He appeared to favor his left rear leg a bit, but was nimble enough to come over a four-foot fence or scale a low tree. "Gray foxes are endangered in this area and they need a break," the Patch reader stated in an email. "And, we need a break from the rodents, and I hope this fox and all its kin will do very well."
