Eagle Scout Creates App For Lafayette Walking Tour

Marc Davis' creation is now being given to third grade teachers by the Lafayette Historical Society

An Eagle Scout has made it easier for people to tour the historic sites of Lafayette.

Acalanes High School junior Marc Davis has created a walking tour iPhone application for his Eagle project.

Davis, a member of Boy Scout Troop 204 in Lafayette, came up with the app from his experience of taking the docent-led historic walking tour when he was in third grade.

The app provides the user with a map showing historic sites in downtown Lafayette. The user can put the app into "auto" mode and as they approach each historic site an audio tour will begin, triggered by GPS location.

The walking tour is taken by all Lafayette third graders.

With that in mind, the Lafayette Historical Society has introduced the app to all of the city's third grade teachers.
