Diablo Magazine Has Profile of Gay Scout

'This isn't over,' vows Karen Andresen, mom of Moraga Boy Scout Ryan Andresen, in long feature in magazine's January issue.

Diablo magazine has an 'Excluded' exclusive.

That's the title of the magazine's profile of gay Boy Scout Ryan Andresen, whose quest for an Eagle Scout badge took a couple sharp turns Tuesday, and his mom Karen Andresen, both of Moraga.

"This isn't over," Karen Andresen says in the Diablo piece by Peter Crooks. "They messed with the wrong mom."

at the Mt. Diablo-Silverado Council of the Boy Scouts in Pleasant Hill, said he would not approve the council board's recommendation to approve Andresen's merit Eagle badge and forward it to the national office.

In the magazine profile, Karen Andresen tells about Ryan's anxiety about hazing at a Scout troop trip to the Sierras several years ago.

Ryan Andresen's Eagle Scout project was designing and executing a 288-tile "tolerance wall" that now hangs on a building at Joaquin Moraga Intermediate School in Moraga. He raised about $500 to pay for materials in the tolerance wall.
