YMTC's "South Pacific" opens July 18 for two weekends at the Performing Arts Theater at El Cerrito High School

Friday and Saturday shows at 7:30pm.  Sunday matinees at 1:00pm.

Rogers & Hammerstein's classic musical complete with a live, full 30+ piece orchestra plus a cast of over 30 talented actor/singers, grades 7th-University level, mainly from the East Bay.

Set in an island paradise during World War II, two parallel love stories are threatened by the dangers of prejudice and war: Nellie, a spunky nurse from Arkansas, falls in love with a mature French planter, Emile but succumbs to her prejudice and refuses his marriage proposal upon discovering that the mother of his children was an island native. Meanwhile, Lt. Joe Cable denies himself a future with Liat, a local Tonkinese girl, out of the same fears. When Emile is recruited to accompany Joe on a dangerous mission that claims Joe's life, Nellie realizes that life is too short not to seize her own chance for happiness, thus confronting and conquering her prejudices.

Theater/box office opens 1 hour before each performance.  Show-themed refreshments are available at "The Canteen", as well as special Friday Night Dinner  deals.
