Great tasting BBQ isn’t the only thing cooking this holiday season at Bo’s in Lafayette. For the last 10 years, Bo McSwine has been playing Santa for low-income children delivering toys and food to those in need. Through customer support and personal donations from customers at his local restaurant, Bo delivered gifts to over 35 children on Saturday.
“Providing toys for these kids is the highlight of my year,” says Bo.
Every year he asks for a wish list from SHELTER, Inc.’s Lyle Morris Family Center, in Antioch. Some children open the gifts right away and others hold on to the gifts for Christmas day. Over the years, other local organizations have jumped in to help with the festivities.
Seven Hills Elementary School and the Diablo Valley Chapter of National Charity League hosted; they made gingerbread houses, decorated cookies and created ornaments with all the kids this year.
Although SHELTER, Inc. has matched the majority of families with donors this holiday season, they are still in need of gifts or gift cards for teen boys and girls who are often forgotten. If you would like to donate please call Theresita Gonzales at 925-957-7561 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
