Danville Mayor has announced that she plans to run for Contra Costa County Supervisor in District 2, a position currently held by the departing Gayle Uilkema.
"I have the privilege of working with on various county boards," Andersen said in a release Monday. "She serves the community with dignity and integrity. I look forward to following in her footsteps."
The issues before her, Andersen said, include: working collaboratively with county leaders and workers to find solutions to unsustainable pension costs; working with law enforcement officials to maintain and create safer communities; finding additional ways to support business expansion in high growth industries; and ensuring that development takes place within the Urban Limit Line.
If successful, Andersen will begin as County Supervisor in January 2013, following the completion of her current term as mayor. District 2 Supervisor Gayle Uilkema recently announced she will not seek re-election in 2012.
District 2 was recently configured to include San Ramon, Danville, Alamo, Lafayette, Moraga, Orinda and a portion of Walnut Creek.
