Judge Strikes Down High Density Housing in L.A. as "Fatally Flawed

Before I give you this link, I would like people in Lamorinda to see what happened in what used to be a quaint area of Portland.  I call it Planners Gone Wild.  This is what occurs when residents...you know...the people who LIVE there are not listened to by their council or are not engaged in the activities of their council.

Next, I would like to give you a link to www.newgeography.com.  This discusses how the statistics that these regional entities used to get their own way in L.A.  were flawed...a nice word for a total fabrication.  Sound familiar?  A judge actually stood up to these so-called planners.

This is not a plan.  It's a scheme.  Probably conceived in a government highrise (ha!) with no regard to the character, or topography of each city.  It's kind of a utopian dream with little regard for the people in it.

With the exception of realtors, municipal workers, teachers and a smattering of small businesses, for the most part, the  jobs people are seeking are not in Orinda.  ALL of those homes on Altarinda should have been for municipal workers, teachers, etc., not just 8! So why build in Orinda? Why, indeed?

Have you driven to Walnut Creek lately? Here is what they are building and proposing:

--300 one and two bedroom apts. on N. Civic Dr. are being built right now with 475 PARKING PLACES.  They are four and a half blocks from Bart!!! So much for getting us out of our cars per Plan Bay Area.
--A Bart Transit Village with 600 units.  Obviously, they don't care about all the studies showing that being next to the freeway causes heart disease and cancer.
--A proposal of 107 apartments

Just today I went back after one week and they've taken down the entire corner of Ygnacio Valley Rd. across from Target!

OMG!  More apartments?  This will be a nightmare like Portland!  Too many developments to count.  Where are the trees and greenery to offset the pollution? Check this out!!!

O.k.  Here is my point and it's pretty obvious.  CAN'T WE WAIT AND SEE IF THESE BUILDINGS FILL UP?!  As most of you know, the Transit Village in Pleasant Hill has been virtually vacant for 20 years.  Who handles the fallout? I understand that our council is getting ready to change the general plan in Orinda, probably in order to put in the luxury condos with underground parking instead of the Montessori School that the planning commission approved and the Phairs wanted on their own property per the article in the Lamorinda Weekly.  What's next?  The passage of SB1...to be continued.
