Trial Expected In Moraga Molestation Case

A resident student arrested after allegedly exposing himself to two children in his care at the 24 Hour Fitness center in Moraga is being tried on four counts stemming from the incident.

The trial of a 22-year-old Saint Mary's College resident student arrested on suspicion of exposing himself and annoying children while on the job as a Kid's Club supervisor at the center in Moraga is expected to get underway in Martinez this week.

Pornthep Suvanasarn was arrested in March of last year after allegations surfaced that he'd exposed himself to two five-year-old children at the fitness center day care facility March 14.

Police say the alleged acts took place while Suvanasarn was supervising children in the club's child care area. He was booked into the Main Detention Facility in Martinez, made bail and was subsequently charged with four misdemeanor counts of indecent exposure and annoying or molesting a child under the age of 18.

Investigators noted that although the charges mention molesting children, there is no indication that Suvanasarn actually touched either of the children.

Suvanasarn had worked at 24 Hour Fitness for three years prior to his arrest, holding other jobs as a lifeguard and youth soccer coach.

Saint Mary's spokesman Michael McAlpin confirmed that Suvanasarn was a business major at the college who enrolled in 2007 and listed his address as Danville.
