Tales of a Moraga Bargain Hunter

SFgate.com features Sally Socolich, the author of 'Bargain Hunting in the Bay Area.'

If you want to understand the thinking of a master bargain hunter, see the interview at SFgate.com with author-columnist-TV personality Sally Socolich of Moraga.

Socolich is the author of numerous books, including 'Bargain Hunting in the Bay Area.'

Her passion for bargain hunting is tempered. "I'm having little talks with myself that it's time to get rid of some of this stuff" that fills her house in Rheem Valley Manor, a development across St. Mary's Road from St. Mary's College, Socolich said in a phone interview with Patch. She and her family have been there since 1966.

But she can't deny that bargain hunting is in her blood. "It would be great fun to shop without having to count," she tells SFgate.com. "I still count. When I'm in the supermarket, I know when to buy a steak. I pay attention to the cycle of pricing. I can't imagine what it's like to ignore that."
